Hello! I always listen online because I haven’t found a revolution type church close to me. Love every talk…I was super Christian but like jay said I don’t want to step foot in a ‘church’ as I knew it. I’m still taking baby steps in my journey and I just visited a Unitarian Universalist church this past Sunday and i’m thinking that’s as close as i’m going to get to what i’m looking for in my town. I like that there’s a variety of beliefs and backgrounds and they just accept everyone as they are and realize we are trying to better ourselves and our world. I was afraid to listen to an atheist message at first(thanks to good ole religion) lol..but every time I’ve listened to the talks I would have previously avoided i’m always amazed and enlightened. I’m so grateful for being able to have a connection with Revolution NYC/MN even if it is just online..want to visit one day! Thanks Jay, Nate and all the Revolution crew
Ooops, didn’t comment on what I expect from the church(based on the talk)…basically I expect acceptance and honest answers…even if the answer is I Don’t Know. I am so used to Christian ministers answering various questions while being adamant and so sure of themselves but I still have the same questions if not more after talking to them. I’m grateful for the talks that I’ve heard from Jay where he breaks down the big questions AND gives actual answers from scriptures that have been previously misunderstood or taken out of context.
Hi Jay, Nate, John (Minneapolis) & Vince (New York),
A huge HELLO from Sydney, Australia
I’ve got no idea why the rest of my post ended up coming through – ahh well here goes;
Just wanted to let you all know that my wife & I look forward to listening in each week to the podcasts coming from the different Revolution Churches. I’m not sure if you remember Jay but we both met you (my wife was pregnant) at the Crave MCC Conference in Jan 2012 – I was quite nervous meeting you….and you showed us both your Boxing Kangaroo tattoo!
I got saved and all that in the year 2000 through an AOG Pentecostal church here in Sydney….then after meeting my soon to be wife in 2006….it took me many years to rethink (unlearn) & critically analyse why I believed everything I believed. We have numerous wonderful gay & lesbian Christian friends who are not accepted by the majority of churches here in Australia – this disappoints us. We left church several years ago and have not been back (quite happy about this).
But……we LOVE the podcast and although a long way away…..feel that we are connected through this online community experience. I especially enjoyed the open mic discussion on ‘community’ by the in resident atheist ( Nate ) the other week – brilliant stuff!
Keep it up guys & please know that we❤ the work that you are doing and that your helping to keep our faith alive!
